About Mongolian Fold Formation (2) "Characteristics of the VY Method"

Characteristics of the "VY Method

In this issue, we will explain the VY method of mongolian fold formation.

The "VY method" is characterized by
(1) Mongolian folds cannot be newly created.
(2) Delicate control over how much to hide the tear ducts
(iii) Scars are inconspicuous
(4) Scars and depressions caused by craniotomy are improved.

It is. Let's take another in-depth look at this issue.

○○Mongolian folds cannot be created anew.

What? ⁉︎ can't you make mongolian folds even though you have mongolian fold formation? It seems surprising, doesn't it?
In fact, it is a surgery that can respond to "I don't need mongolian folds, but I want to reduce the exposure of the pink (tear duct) at the top of my eyes".

It is not possible to create new mongolian folds, but in cases where mongolian folds remain after the craniotomy, they can be left in place.

Subtle control over how much to hide the fat tear ducts is possible.

The VY method has less retroversion and allows for fine-tuning of the exposure of the tear ducts.
During the surgery, when the temporary stitches are finished, the patient checks the finished image in a mirror.
If there is a "I want it a little more closed" or "I want it a little wider," fine adjustments can be made on the spot.

Fat scarring is inconspicuous

The scars of the VY method are very short and simple, so scars are less noticeable than those of the inverted Z method.
I feel this is the greatest advantage of the VY method.

Fatty eye incision scars and depressions are improved.

The scar from the craniotomy is sticky and attached to the surrounding tissue under the skin.
The VY method carefully removes that sticky layer, so the scar and indentation are less noticeable.

About Mongolian Fold Formation Explanation

This concludes the explanation of the "inverse Z method" and the "VY method.

More than 90% of our patients prefer the "VY method," but neither technique is better or worse than the other.
It is important to understand the characteristics of each technique and choose the one that best suits your problem.

In the next issue, we will provide an in-depth explanation of the downtime of the "VY method," which is a frequently requested procedure at our clinic.
Thank you for reading to the end.
