Electroporation (eporation) is a technique developed as a method of seeking cosmetic effects by applying the electroporation technique of biotechnology.

While electroporation in biotechnology introduces useful genes into cells by making minute holes in the cell membrane, electroporation in cosmetology uses a special beauty instrument (transducer) to form permeation pathways in epithelial cells, especially in the inner wall cells of pores and sweat glands existing in the skin, to introduce hydrophilic molecules and macromolecules such as collagen, hyaluronic acid, FGF-1 (an essential factor for promoting new cell growth), and fucoxanthin (an ingredient that promotes epidermal cell growth), which normally would not penetrate.
