The nasal septum is the wall that divides the nostrils into right and left nostrils. If the cartilage of the nasal septum is small, the nose will be upturned, short, or pig nose. The "nasal septum extension" is the solution to this problem.
Nasal septum lengthening not only lengthens and beautifies the nose, but is also recommended for those who have easily visible nostrils or a long nose.

Features of this hospital

Depending on the patient's ideal nose and the current condition of the nose, the choice of whether to use auricular cartilage or rib cartilage for the grafted cartilage is made before surgery. Auricular cartilage for nasal septum extension is taken from behind the ear, so the scar is hardly noticeable. Rib cartilage is harvested through a 3 cm incision under the breasts. The scar will become less noticeable over time.

At our clinic, we use 3D simulation software "vectra" before the surgery to show you a 3D image of the postoperative result, so you can visualize the postoperative result to some extent before the surgery.

Postoperative course and follow-up

Postoperative risks and side effects

-Philadelphia infection: If there is prolonged "heat," "redness," "severe pain," or "severe swelling" in the treated area after surgery, infection is suspected.

-Blood Blood pools.: After surgery, bleeding may occur within the wound at the nasal apex, causing blood to pool. If blood accumulates, the nasal apex will swell to a purple color. If the blood is left untreated, it can cause infection and thickening of the nasal apex.

-sense of nasal obstruction nasal obstruction: The nasal septum is thickened because of the overlap of the cartilage on the nasal septum. If nasal apex reduction is also performed, the space for air to pass through the nose is further narrowed. This makes nasal congestion more likely to occur. Especially after the surgery, the mucous membrane inside the nose swells, which further narrows the nasal passage.

-Mr. scar: Although we will suture as carefully as possible, there may be cases of scar bumps, dents, or distortions due to the nature of the skin or displacement of the stitched wound.

-Antonio Bent nasal apex: Extension surgery can cause the extended cartilage to bend due to the force exerted on the extended cartilage as the stretched skin and cartilage of the nasal apex attempt to return to its original position. The greater the amount of extension, and the more previous nose surgery, the greater the risk of postoperative deformity.

-David The effect of the extension is not what I imagined.: Due to the size of the cartilage and skin tightness, it may not be possible to obtain sufficient height or length, or it may be slightly larger than the planned amount of extension. Even if the cartilage is lengthened as planned, the finished nose may feel longer and taller.
If it is felt to be too short, additional cartilage can be grafted to the nasal apex six months after surgery, if there is enough skin. *Rib cartilage harvesting may be necessary.
It can also be adjusted by shaving the grafted cartilage one week or three months after surgery.
