Postoperative risks and side effects

-Philadelphia infection: If there is prolonged "heat," "redness," "severe pain," or "severe swelling" in the treated area after surgery, infection is suspected.
If left untreated, the skin may break, pus may appear, or the prosthesis may pop out, so treatment is always necessary.

-Hematoma hematoma: If blood accumulates due to postoperative bleeding, the jaw and neck may swell to a purple color. If the blood is left to pool, it may become infected or form a lump, so it must be treated as soon as possible.

-Dr. Numbness in the jaw: When a pocket is made for the prosthesis, it is stripped near the sensory nerve and the nerve is pulled, which may cause a loss of sensation from the jaw to the gums of the jaw. It varies from person to person, but in most cases it resolves within a year. In rare cases, sensation may never completely return to normal.

-Dr. Bent or misaligned prosthesis: Although the inserted prosthesis is immobilized in a cast for 3 days after surgery to prevent it from moving, bending or misalignment may occur due to pressure from the jaw muscles. If the patient is concerned about the postoperative bending, the position of the prosthesis will need to be corrected between one and three months after the surgery, depending on the situation.
