Features of this hospital
An incision is made in the skin along the lower eyelid margin at the eyelash line.
First, the epidermis is peeled off over the orbicularis oculi muscle to form a skin valve.
The orbicularis oculus is then detached and separated into three pieces.
An appropriate amount of intraorbital fat present under the orbicularis oculus is excised, or the intraorbital fat is moved downward in line with the concavity to make the dark circles shallower (hamula technique).
The orbicularis oculi muscle is pinned to the outer periosteum of the orbital bone while being stretched in an upward outward direction. The lower eyelid skin is then stretched superiorly and laterally in the same manner, and the excess is excised and sutured to the lower eyelid.
