Nutrients needed to improve skin texture

Dr. Tatsuta

How is everyone doing in the continuing hot weather?
If you are losing your appetite, are you getting enough nutrients?
In this column, I write about nutrients related to skin problems and skin quality improvement.

<Zinc deficiency
The skin becomes dry, the scars heal more slowly, and scars are more likely to remain. Redness around the eyes, mouth, and vulva, as well as ear rashes and eczema on the scalp, may occur. Nails may appear uneven.

<Iron deficiency
Skin problems such as dryness are more likely to occur. Also, active oxygen increases, causing blemishes and wrinkles. Blood circulation is poor, resulting in frostbite, and the strength of nails decreases, causing them to become deformed and warped. Acne around the mouth worsens before menstruation.

<Vitamin A deficiency
Skin becomes dry, causing dandruff and worsening atopic dermatitis. Thickened keratin causes pores to become clogged, which worsens acne and leads to the formation of warts.

<Vitamin B complex deficiency
The health of the skin and mucous membranes is adversely affected, and dermatitis is seen in areas where sebum secretion is active, such as the laugh lines, ears, eyelids, and pubic area. Angulusitis, cracking of the lips, and hyperpigmentation may also occur.

<Vitamin C deficiency
Small bumps (sharkskin) and surrounding petechial hemorrhages may be seen on the arms and thighs, consistent with pores. Spiral hairs may also occur due to poor circulation in the scalp. Wounds will take longer to heal.

<Vitamin D deficiency
The skin's keratinocytes change from their normal state, becoming thicker and more difficult to peel off. This reduces the skin's barrier function and makes the skin susceptible to repeated skin infections.

Skin symptoms due to nutrient deficiencies or deficiencies can be improved when supplemented.
