It was his birthday the other day and we celebrated at a tempura restaurant with counter seating 🍤.
When you think of a festive meal, sushi or teppanyaki is the standard!

In Fukuoka, there are reasonably priced restaurants called "Tempura Hirao" and "Takao" where you can eat freshly fried tempura at the counter, and it is not unusual to have tempura at a tempura restaurant, but since I moved to Tokyo, I never had a chance to eat it.
This time we decided to have tempura at a restaurant for the first time in a while: 🫶🏻

This time, we visited a restaurant in Azabu-juban
It's called "Tempura Yanase." 🫶🏻
The owner is from Fukuoka, so of course the food was delicious, and I felt that he was particular about using ingredients from Fukuoka and Kyushu!

I was a little nervous when I entered the counter-only restaurant, but the owner and proprietress spoke to me kindly and we had a great time 🫣🤍.
