I went to Miyazaki the other day ✨

Miyazaki is where I was born, and since I have a lot of relatives there, it’s a place I’ve visited many times over the years—it’s full of memories and one of my favorite places. This time, I went to Takachiho Gorge. I’d always wanted to go there someday, but I’d never actually made it—until now! 🌱

*Takachiho Gorge was formed when pyroclastic flows—spewed forth by the massive eruptions of Mount Aso that occurred between approximately 270,000 and 90,000 years ago—were gradually eroded by the river over a long period of time.

The scenery, with cliffs stretching for about 80 to 100 meters, was truly breathtaking—it was such a beautiful place that it was hard to believe it had been created by the forces of nature. 🥹

What really stood out to me were the river shimmering in emerald green and the Manai Falls cascading down the rocky face. “So this is the place!” I thought to myself, “This is the one I’ve seen so often in photos!” And when I actually stood there, the negative ions were incredible!
I really appreciated the beauty of the air and the scenery 🌬️✨

I didn't take the boat this time (by the way, if you don't have a reservation, you have to wait five hours for the boat 😂), but taking a leisurely stroll along the walking trail and enjoying nature was incredibly pleasant—it was the kind of moment that really helped me catch my breath.

The Takachiho Amaterasu Railway, which is about a 10-minute drive from Takachiho Gorge, is also worth checking out, so I recommend visiting both as a set! 📝

*This attraction makes use of the tracks of the former Takachiho Railway, which was decommissioned in 2005. Ride the open-air "Grand Super Cart" and experience a thrilling, scenic tour—a round trip of approximately 5.1 km lasting about 30 minutes—as you cross the Takachiho Railway Bridge, Japan’s tallest bridge (approx. 105 m) ✨

Every time I go there, I realize that having people who say “Welcome home” to me outside of my own home, and having a place to return to where I can say “I’m home”—these things aren’t something to take for granted. That’s why every time I visit Miyazaki, I feel a warm glow inside and my eyes well up a little. 🥹❤️
